What is Branching In Deduction

Branching means forming hypotheses, possibilities of different answer to a question or observation.

Like a tree branch, from the beginning point, there can be countless little branches coming out, but there is only one big branch that connects every point from the trunk to the end.

For example, you see water spots on the floor. From that one single observation, you can think someone wet walked inside, someone dry with a wet umbrella walked inside or someone just randomly throw water on the floor.

You need more facts, more points to connect the dots to know which branch is the right one.
