Training For Ace Cold read Sherlock Holmes Damian Valens training program Improvement Practice Forewords Practice Improvement plan How can I improve my cold reading? Through the second statement you made under my reply? _ For now, you improve by trial and error. Make an observation and talk to that person to confirm your read. _ The way you present your cold read is by giving vaguely a general statement that is true for the majority of people based on your observation. Something out of the ordinary and personal would be riskier but get a better result. _ You should also consider Tarot cards, the way they tell the future. _ I don’t study this just yet, so I’ll stop here. ” (Sherlock Holmes) He doesn’t go out and look at people and deduce what they do, although he’s capable of it.” How did he become capable of doing so? _ In one of the original story, SH mentioned that he follow a person around the whole day just to study what he does. I believe it’s “The Sign of Four”. _ This is also what I want to do in near future. Instead of following someone arround, I’ll talk with them and find out their experiences. Experiences are unique for everyone, and they would cause physical or psychological changes. After the talk, I’d think of how this experience could change a person, physically or psychologically. Then lastly, mass check it. If it’s common enough, you can safely make it a deduction, or maybe you think that there might be more situation that could lead to the same results. _ check out my post Generalized Deduction I am at the moment I am reading, deducing, and following Damien Valens first week program. I have started to think more and ask questions to myself on why someone did something and notice more details as before I had aphantasia but with the addition of more stimulus to my spatial section of my brain I can remember more visually. Any other additions? _ Idk what is this program, but if it comes from Damian, you can trust to follow it 100%. _ My philosophy is Deduction is a science, and you study it by trials and errors. You study faster by doing more, having better tools, and having more tools. _ But you don’t need to reinvent the wheels, so follow someone’s work is fine too. _ Being able to memorize visually is good. That’s how I approach observation nowadays. You take a look at someone for a split second, remember it and deduce it after. can’t just stare at someone while deducing them most of the time. I’d like to mention I have seen changes in my perception, been able to 3d visualize people and objects and keep them in my head for longer. Additionally, I have been asking more questions in my head when encountering people. Depending on how I do with deductions of objects I would like to be leveled up to a new class, possibly deducing people as objects are useful but if proficent it’d be best to level up and additionally people are more prevalent thus require more focus. Deduction theory ? _ Good to hear that you improved. In most cases, I don’t believe in cognitive inability (ADHD, math, memory, etc.) I think people just don’t train their brain (like a muscle) hence their ability never grow and stay at prehistoric level. This is not to shame them because there’s many things the brain can do and time in the day is limited, so you’re limited to few abilities. _ There are 2 types of deduction theories. One to help with how to regulate information and asking better questions for deduction. The other is to approach deduction from a macro level and give philosophy on how to study deduction. In short, one is for doing and one is for training. _ You can find a lot of those in “theory crafting” or on Damian’s tumblr. _ I’ve told you many times that at this stage, you should only focus on: Observation and not deduction. Observation of an object, not a picture. You’ve done neither of those and you don’t read my in-depth help. Not sure why you’re still around trying to ask for my opinion when it doesn’t matter to you. _ To me, you’re still in observation stage so I’ll only comment on your observation. “This image contains wood flooring, prayer beads- green and white, cords, something black (my drawer), and something cylinder at the base and something going up” _ If you observe an object, you can see a lot more detail than this. _ You failed to notice the dirt, how positions of objects relate to each others, the shadow and light, pieces of paper, battery, moisture package, etc. _ You don’t observe everything and the details of things that you saw. _ Same thing with the 2nd practice, so I’m not even going to include here. _ If you actually want to improve, do this. _ Pick an object and observe it for 3 minutes, list everything that you observed, no matter how small, insignificant or dumb it might sound. _ Let’s use your old practice as an example. _ Step 1: Pick 1 thing: The cup. _ Step 2: Observe for 3 minutes and list everything you noticed. _ Color: white, black “strings” on surface, the text being blue with Google logo, Google is larger than the text, the handle is on the right side of the cup, there’re reflection on the cup: the light, the painting, there’re white stripes on the text, little broken piece on the handle, _ This is an example of what you should be doing for right now. Half-ass attempt and impatience lost you a month of training already. _ If you want to improve, be a professional. If you don’t, stop wasting your time.
