In general, the sharper the tan line, the closer the clothes or things are to the skin. The fader the border between the tan and the normal skin, the looser the clothes or things are to the skin.

Tan intensity is different for different skin shade. White people tends to have red skin, while Asian tends to have darker shades.

Tan	Meaning
At neck and 2 arms	Farmer tan. Depends on if the tan is shoulder length or only to elbow, you can determine what shirt they often wear.
Only on one arm	Trucker tan. Cause by extensive driving. Tan on one arm is significantly more than the other. Half the face on the same side also tends to age more due to the UV.
Shoe’s tan	You can determine what kind of sandal this person used extensively outside.
Bikini tan
Tan around the eyes and line to the ears	Goggles tan. Common among industrial workers, skiers, snowboarders, outside swimmers.
Tan line in the forehead ( and around if bald)	Golfer tan
Tan in knees area but not the leg	Soccer tan. People wear shin guard when playing soccer.
Tan below the knee, above ankle	American football tan. Their pants are just below the knee long.
Tan in the phalange closer hand, but not the 2 next to fingernails	Biker. Tan caused by people holding the control like a fist.
