Murder on the train

The gas station was dimly lit, the flickering fluorescent lights casting eerie shadows on the walls. Parrot’s keen eyes darted around the small space, taking in the subtle details that others might overlook. The smell of gasoline and oil lingered in the air, but beneath it all, a hint of something more sinister seemed to loom.

The old cop, Hans, lay lifeless on the grimy floor, a pool of blood slowly expanding around him. Parrot knew that the victim’s past had finally caught up with him. With a reputation for making enemies due to his unorthodox methods, it was no surprise that someone had sought vengeance. But who?

The detective’s thoughts raced as he pieced together the clues. The timeline was crucial, placing the murder during the train’s passage through a shaky tunnel. The perfect setting for a crime, he thought. The train’s vibrations would mask any commotion, and the bad track would make it difficult for anyone to move around unnoticed.

Three suspects emerged, all with a motive to kill Hans. Bella, the conductor, had a grudge after being exposed for tax fraud. Moris, a former factory worker, might have sought revenge for something unknown yet. And Teressa, an employee at the bank, had her schemes uncovered by the victim.

Parrot first questioned Bella, finding her in the gas station’s bathroom, which coincidentally had blood splatters around the sink. Her explanation seemed plausible, but the missing ticket punch raised doubts

Moving on to Moris, Parrot examined the long letter he claimed to have written 30 minutes ago. The impeccable handwriting puzzled him.

Lastly, he approached Teressa, who wasted no time offering her alibi – painting her nails alone. But the water mark and red stain on her dress raised Parrot’s suspicions.

With these puzzle pieces before him, Parrot retraced his steps back to the crime scene. He stood where Hans had breathed his last breath, and something clicked in his mind. Only one person could have done it, and the answer was hidden in plain sight.
