Storyline

This is a story of the King of Bohemia asking the help of Sherlock Holmes to retrieve his photos with Irene Adler, who threatened to use the photos to stop his wedding.

Detective Process

The goal of this case is to retrieve the photos.

Find out what’s the photos look like. Its size, content.
Find out about Irene Adler, her address, habits, people around her, etc.
Disguise and follow her.
Get close to her and use trick to find where she kept the pictures.

Deduction

“I am the King of Bohemia. How did you know?”

“It was quite easy,” said Holmes. “You have a beautiful carriage with two beautiful horses. You are a rich man. It is clear that you are a very important man.”

“You have come to ask for my help,” continued Holmes. “You say that I must not tell anyone about your visit. You talk about the request of a King… You are from Bohemia. I have read in the newspaper that the King of Bohemia is in London at the moment. So I know that you are the King.”

Trick

Gathering information

Holmes asked the driver in front of Irene’s house to find out more about her. In this case, he learned about her habits, which helped set up his next trick.

Disguise

Holmes disguised 2 different times in this story. One to follow Irene around to gather more information. The second time was to get close to her, and especially get inside her house by pretending to be a priest who helped her.

The crowd

Holmes hired a group of people, pretend to steal Irene’s purse, and he himself helped her. The purpose of this act is to bring down her guard, gain her trust.

The intensity of the situation was increased by the fake blood, someone pointed out that he was dying.

Using this intensity, someone asked Irene to bring him inside the house.

Smoke bomb

Holmes used the smoke bomb to create an emergency. In this situation people usually look at their most valuable first thing. For a mother, it is usually her children. And for Irene, it was the photos.
